The incident, which claimed the life of a resident, has prompted urgent calls for increased police presence and improved resources to address what locals describe as a worsening security situation. Many residents say the community has been left vulnerable due to limited law enforcement capacity and difficult living conditions. Community members report a steady rise in criminal activities, including violent attacks, petty theft, and drug-related offenses.
They argue that the combination of inadequate policing and poor infrastructure has made it increasingly difficult to maintain order and protect lives. Speaking on behalf of residents, community leader Samuel Sesay appealed to authorities to take immediate steps to strengthen security in the area. He stressed that the safety of residents must be treated as a priority. “This incident has exposed serious gaps in our security system,” he said. “We urgently need more police officers, better support, and a stronger presence to reassure the community.”
Residents also expressed concern about the growing influence of drug abuse among young people, which they say is fueling criminal behavior and increasing tensions within the community. Several locals noted that response times to emergencies are often slow, while regular patrols remain limited, particularly during late hours. These challenges, they say, have contributed to a sense of insecurity among residents.
